June 2006

I went back to Pennsylvania for work for two weeks this month. Once again it was very last minute therefore Todd wasn't able to come. We had guests so he had to stay home. Work was crazy the first week. I was there each night to at least 7:00 pm and my poor parents insisted on waiting to eat dinner until I got home. Pops had fun experimenting with vegetarian meals and the first night that I didn't eat at home they were all excited to be able to eat some dead animal. Actually, they both like eating vegetarian and it wasn't a big deal. It was wonderful to see my parents, sister, nephews, in-laws and my friends at work. However, it was really hard to be away from Todd and Buddy and Louie for two weeks. I did get to go shopping! We went to Ikea and I bought so many things that my parents will have to ship some of it. Hawaii is awesome, but no Ikea. I got to celebrate my mom's birthday and father's day while I was in PA. We had my mom's party at my sister's new house. They have a large above the ground pool. As soon as we arrived, Tyler and Casey starting asking when we were putting on our suits to go swimming. They are like two little fish. It was absolutely unreal to them that Grammy would put on a bathing suit and not get in the pool. My mom doesn't get into swimming and the kids couldn't understand that. I also got to see my in-laws new house at least the house model. They are moving into the latest craze on the mainland for baby boomers. They are moving into a 55 and older community. The community takes care of everything on the outside of your house. They say that now they can come stay for 3 months in Hawaii. They are supposed to move some time in the late fall early winter. The house framing was just going up when we were there. However, they need to get their house ready to sell. That is going to be one big job, brah. They have choke (lots of) stuff.

Before I left for the mainland, I met our first guests for June, Gary and Daryl from Kansas. They were a cool couple that really loves coming back to Hawaii for vacation. Todd had to take care of getting the apartment ready after they left for our next guests Indigo and Donna from California. I reviewed how to make the bed before I left. It was very sweet, but slightly scary when Todd said to me that if he had trouble he was sure he could find instructions online. I wonder how many men type in to google, How to make a bed? Anyway, he survived and so did the guests. They were city girls and were not early risers so Todd had to re-work is farming schedule. I didn't get to meet Donna and Indigo, but I did get to meet Gary and Kellie who are from Hatboro, PA. We also had an Australian family stay with us who were winding down their three month vacation. They had twin boys who turned ten while they were here. They were a really nice family.

I missed our wedding anniversary. I was away on June 12. My honey worked very hard to get the house into shape before I arrived home. To me, that was a great present. He did all the laundry, dishes, cleaned the house, washed my car, made me a flower arrangement, did the grocery shopping, washed the dogs and picked me up at the airport with a beautiful lei as well as already cooked pizza from Costco for dinner. I was so worn out when I got back. I got up at 5:00 am eastern time on June 22. I drove to the Philly airport and returned my rental car and got on a plane to California at 9:30 am. I arrived in California 6 hours later to find out that my 4 hour lay over was now a 6 hour layover. I then arrived at 8:30 pm Hawaii time in Kona on June 23.

Todd finished up the steps that he put on our lanai. He put up bamboo railings and is trying hard to grow grass in front of the steps. The ground was dug up from the project and we are not using the steps because of all the dirt. He also worked hard on the pond while I was away. It looks really nice, but he has to find the leak in the waterfall. When it runs we end up loosing too much water. I think Louie is pretty much done with his humping behavior. He still jumps on Buddy to play, but he is no longer getting busy which is good. I went to the dermatologist this month. I had a red spot on my leg and was concerned since I am one very white chick living in Hawaii. She was really nice and said it was nothing to worry about. It would never become cancer, it is just an OLD AGE SPOT. Gosh, how nice. I still get zits and I am now getting old age spots. Shouldn't you get to give up one crappy skin thing when a new one comes along?

Happy Birthday to our neice Sarah who turned seven. Sorry your card was late! I left Uncle Todd in charge while I was gone. At least he remembered to feed himself and the dogs. I guess I can't be upset that he didn't send out birthday cards. Happy Birthday to my mom and Happy Father's Day to our two dads. Happy Birthday to my friend Kristin. She is so cool. It was her birthday and she sent me a present! I got a water pitcher and cups with pictures of Dogs in Aloha shirts. As she said, it is only tacky if you aren't a dog person.
