February 2006

Things have been so crazy. Kim is working really long hours for her project at work and I am coaching wrestling everyday. Therefore, things like the newsletter have been taking a backseat. In fact, Todd (not Kim) is writing the newsletter this month.

We had a few guests stay with us this month. First Bob from N.C. was here. That was followed up by the Steve's from Canada. Later in the month Ginny and her family from Alaska were here . Also during this month we held our first Yoga Retreat. Kim's former yoga teacher from Pennsylvania (Maureen) served as the event's instructor. I think the group had a better time snorkeling and swimming with the dolphins than doing yoga. But some how they found time to work it in. At the end of the month Judy and Bethany stayed in the Tree Top apartment. Kim had to be responsible for cleaning both apartments at the end of the month in preparation for new guests and an upcoming visit from my parents. Needless to say she was not happy. It seems every time Kim has to clean the apartments our guests are not the neatest. Oh well, she managed. After a few curse words and a roll of paper towels the place got cleaned. I was away in Oahu for the state wrestling championships which is how I got out of cleaning this time.

Konawaena wrestling team had a good showing at the " Big Island Championship." Overall the team finished second. Congratulations to Kama and Marwin on their first place finishes. Mike, Alan, Luke and Justin all took second place. Ryan placed third. Tai and Mark both placed fourth. Ashlee the one young lady on our team also brought home a first place finish. We took 10 qualifiers to states and came home with 3 medals. Kama took fourth at 135 pounds. Mike took fifth at 140 and Ashlee took sixth place.

We have a new addition to our family. We adopted another dog. Kim went down to the beach on a Sunday and came back home with a puppy. She could not resist his cute face. This one is called "Louie." Look at the About Us page for a picture. He is almost 2 months old and weighs all of 6 1/2 pounds. Louie and Buddy get along very well. Buddy is extremely tolerant of the little puppy and is very gentle. So far things are going well with the occassional accident. Kim really needs to dedicate more time to the training of this little puppy and stop leaving it up to Buddy and Todd.

The pool is almost completely drained. We used the water to irrigate the coffee trees. We have decided to use the pool as a irrigation systsem for the farm permanently. It is finally starting to rain so our drought is just about over. I am busy fertilizing the trees and finishing off the pruning.

We are really looking forward to my parents coming in March. Happy Birthday Lisa!
